The Ironwood Country Club Subdivision is located in north Normal with two entrances on either side of Towanda Avenue (one off Raab Road and one off Northtown Road). A beautiful sub 72 par golf course, designed by Roger Packard, runs through the neighborhood. The Ironwood Golf Course is maintained by the Town of Normal and open to the public. It is one of the best courses in Central Illinois.
Development of the subdivision began in the late 1980s and continued into the early 1990s. Ironwood has an active homeowners association which advocates for residents as well as maintains the common areas. To help new and prospective homeowners, the association has created a FAQ which can be accessed on the Ironwood Homeowners Association website.
Public school children residing in Ironwood attend Unit #5 schools. Assigned schools for residents during the 2015/2016 school year are:
Elementary – Prairieland
Middle School – Kingsley Junior High
High School – Normal Community West
The neighborhood is close to shopping via either Towanda to College Avenue or Towanda to Raab Road. Interstate 55 North (Chicago) and Interstate 39 North (Rockford) are also easily accessible from Ironwood Subdivision.
