Ahh Autumn… isn’t it by far the best time of the year? The smell of wood fires; crisp, cool breezes, and oh those Fall Festivals! In Bloomington/Normal and surrounding towns we have so much fun for the community it isn’t fair to the other seasons. Let’s start with the Apple ‘n Pork Festival in Clinton, IL. From the moment you turn on the I-51 business loop the air is spiced with sweet pork smoke, cinnamon, and apples.
It’s so heavenly; you might expect a winged angel to greet you at the gates. Attached to the annual festival is a large flea market, and the C.H. Moore Homestead DeWitt County Museum ready to visit. There’s also an art show, live entertainment, face painting, a petting zoo, and Civil War actors walking the grounds, ready to chat to visitors young and old about life in the 1800s. And it’s a free event*! This year the Apple ‘n Pork Festival is September 24th & 25th, from 10am to 5 pm, rain or shine. Visit Apple n’ Pork Festival for more information.
*museum tours and food vendors are at a small cost.
